Let’s see how this looks!
I like it. In the future I will try to make smaller galleries with fewer pictures… and spend more time sorting and commenting on them.
Ok, so I think I worked out a decent system for transferring and storing files on this site. I’ve installed a “NextGEN Gallery” plugin for Word Press… which will allow me to create galleries and albums… and do lots of other stuff with images. On the local side I’ve setup “ACDSee with WS_FTP photomover”. I can set it up to auto download the images from my camera when I plug it in. I can then do a batch resize to make all of the images more reasonable for uploading and viewing online. I keep the originals locally just in case I need the high quality images in the future. The WS_FTP photomover part of the application (integrated) then allows me to transfer the resized images via ftp to the website. All of the grouping, sorting, labelling etc etc etc I do from inside of the Next Gen Gallery component of Word Press. It sounds a little complicated, but it actually seems to work reasonably well.
In my first batch of 87 photos (once I deleted the bad pictures) the size changed from 129 megs to 6.5 megs.
